Frequently asked questions

Where are PINote’s notes stored?

Notes and settings are stored locally on your Mac by default. In PINote, open “Settings → Data” to view the data directory, create a backup, or export Markdown.

Does PINote upload notes to a server?

No. PINote does not require an account and includes no analytics or tracking services. If you enable folder sync, it reads and writes only the folder you explicitly choose through the system file picker.

What is included in the free version?

PINote is free to download. The free version can keep up to 30 notes. Opening, editing, searching, exporting, and pasting images always stay available. Creating more notes, duplicating, restoring, or importing beyond the free limit requires PINote Pro.

How do I use folder sync?

Folder sync is a PINote Pro feature. After you buy PINote Pro or start the 14-day trial, open “Settings → Sync”, choose a folder, and enable sync. You can choose a local folder or a directory provided by a third-party sync service; that service’s own sync and privacy rules apply. Purchase and restore are in “Settings → PINote Pro”.

Why is PINote not in the Dock?

PINote is a menu-bar app. After launch, look for the PINote icon in the menu bar and click it to open the notes window. You can also view and change the global shortcut in Settings.

How do I report a security issue?

Contact support and include “Security” in the subject. Share only necessary technical details, and never send passwords, private keys, or private note content.
