PINote

Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 17, 2026

PINote is a local-first notes app for Mac. It does not require an account, sell personal information, show ads, or include analytics or tracking SDKs.

1. Scope

This policy applies to the PINote macOS app and the related support services provided through this website. It describes how the PINote operator handles information involved in your use of PINote.

2. Information PINote handles

Notes, attachments, and settings

Note content, titles, tags, images, file attachments, search settings, appearance settings, and other app settings are stored locally on your Mac. PINote does not upload this content to servers operated by the PINote operator.

Files and folders you choose

When you use import, export, backup, or PINote Pro folder sync, macOS lets you choose files or folders. PINote accesses only the scope you explicitly choose and only while those features need it. You can disable folder sync or remove its authorization in Settings.

Clipboard and external links

When you copy, paste, or insert an attachment, PINote may read or write the macOS clipboard to complete the action you requested. When you click an external link in a note, macOS opens it in your default browser; the browser and destination website may handle information under their own policies.

PINote Pro purchases

If you choose to purchase PINote Pro, payment and transaction processing are handled by the Apple App Store. PINote does not receive your payment details; the app only verifies the purchase entitlement locally through Apple’s StoreKit to unlock the relevant features.

3. What we do not collect

4. When you contact us

If you contact us by email, we receive the email address, message, and diagnostic information you choose to send. We use it only to reply, handle support requests, and improve the product. We do not use support messages for advertising.

5. System and third-party services

PINote uses Apple-provided macOS, SwiftData, WebKit, and file-picker capabilities. Its editor resources are bundled with the app and do not depend on remote web content. If you choose a folder inside iCloud Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, or another third-party service, that service may process files independently; please review its privacy policy. The website host may process ordinary technical request information, such as an IP address and request time, to serve the pages, depending on the host’s policy.

6. Retention, deletion, and backups

PINote’s local data remains on your Mac until you delete notes, empty Trash, delete backups, or remove the app’s data. Exported Markdown, attachments, and backup files are under your control and may remain in other locations you choose. PINote has no cloud account, so there is no remote account deletion request to make to PINote.

7. Security

PINote relies on macOS App Sandbox, user-selected file authorization, and local storage protections. You are responsible for protecting content stored on your Mac, in backups, or with third-party sync services. No local storage method can guarantee absolute security.

8. Changes

If PINote’s data practices change, we will update this page’s effective date and, where appropriate, update the in-app privacy notice and the privacy information in App Store Connect. Material changes will be explained where appropriate.
